The Boathouse Restaurant Is a family-owned fine dining restaurant on the shore (as you see) of Barker’s Island, Superior Bay, Lake Superior. Our windows look out over the water. Our deck is next to it. It is possible to absorb the emanations, if you will, of the Big Lake on our deck (which, by the way, is sheltered from the chilliest winds by the building, and which has a generally southerly orientation). Our dad designed the building. Our mom, Mrs. B., is the master pastry chef. The food is great! Check out our menus! The cooking staff make wonderful use of our local wild fish, wild mushrooms, and the produce of some extremely competent local growers. Our wine list is value-driven. It is not enormous, but neither is it needlessly broad. Of about sixty wines we offer currently, about one third are rated by respected third-party evaluators 90 or above (out of 100), and several more are rated 85 or above. No wine on this list costs more than $146 per bottle (Caymus 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley Special Selection), and, currently, there are at least 33 grape varieties presented (albeit not all as varietal wines). The dining staff is affable and knowledgeable, and interested. Some say our Twin Ports community is the largest small town in the world. We’ll treat you right, because we hope to see you tomorrow. We have no dress code beyond the legal one. We are smoke-free. OUR RESTAURANT IS 100% ACCESSIBLE!
